19th Meeting of COOMET TC 1.3 “Electricity and Magnetism” Held in Tashkent

✅ For the first time in the history of New Uzbekistan, the 19th meeting of the COOMET Technical Committee TC 1.3 “Electricity and Magnetism” is being hosted by the Uzbekistan National Metrology Institute (UzNIM) from October 7–9, 2025.

✅ The international event is attended by representatives from the National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) of COOMET member countries—including Belarus, Russia, China, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan and members of the Technical Committee.

✅ The event is organized in both online and offline formats, with participation from the COOMET Secretariat and representatives from other international metrology organizations.

✅ The meeting is chaired by Marina Yarmolovich, representative of the BelGIM Institute and Chair of TC 1.3.


 

Key Discussion Points

 

The following issues are being discussed during the meeting:

  • COOMET Decisions: Decisions of the COOMET Committee and President’s Council and their implementation.
  • JCRB Outcomes: Outcomes of the 28th–29th meetings of the Joint Committee of Regional Metrology Organizations and the BIPM (JCRB).
  • International Comparisons: Progress of international and regional comparisons in the field of electrical quantities, and new comparison projects proposed by UzNIM.
  • SI Redefinition: Implementation of the roadmap for the “Redefinition of SI base units” within the COOMET P6/2023 program.
  • Future Activities: Results of TC 1.3 activities for 2024–2025 and proposals for new directions.

Technical and Strategic Matters

 

✅ The meeting is also covering current and planned comparisons involving national standards from Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. Specifically, they are discussing comparisons related to Josephson effect voltage standards, Hall effect resistance standards, and high-voltage and high-current measurement systems.

✅ Furthermore, activities within the CIPM MRA (Mutual Recognition Arrangement), updating the list of experts for CMCs (Calibration and Measurement Capabilities), assistance programs for CEEMS (Central and Eastern European Metrology Strategy) countries, and proposals for creating e-learning platforms are being reviewed.

✅ The meeting’s objective is to further strengthen cooperation, organize comparisons, and facilitate the exchange of scientific and practical experience in the field of electrical and magnetic measurements among COOMET member countries.
