Today in Tashkent, the first working day of the 49th Joint Committee of the Regional Metrology Organizations and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) (JCRB) concluded. This is a prestigious international forum for the global metrology community.

The event was organized at the initiative of the Uzbekistan National Metrology Institute, which operates under the Agency for Technical Regulation of Uzbekistan. The meeting brought together Dr. Martin Milton, the Director of BIPM, heads of regional metrology organizations, international experts, and leading specialists from the world of metrology.

On the first day, the key objectives of the JCRB were discussed. These included: coordinating the mutual recognition of calibration and measurement certificates within the CIPM MRA agreement, reviewing final reports on international comparisons, preparing CMCs (Calibration and Measurement Capabilities) for publication, addressing issues related to capacity building and organizing internships.

Information was also provided on the Uzbekistan National Metrology Institute’s international activities, including its registered comparison projects with BIPM and the ongoing work to gain international recognition for national standards.

As noted by the participants, holding the JCRB meeting in Tashkent is of great importance not only for Uzbekistan but for the entire Central Asian region. It creates new opportunities for strengthening regional cooperation and introducing advanced practices.

The meeting will continue its work tomorrow, on September 24.
