Uzbekistan Opens “Level Standard” Laboratory

The Uzbekistan National Metrology Institute (UzNIM), under the Agency for Technical Regulation, has taken another important step in the field of metrology.

In the “Standard Park” building of the Institute in Tashkent, with the participation of a delegation from the Russian Federation, including representatives from Rosstandart and the “ElMetro-Engineering” company, an event was held to mark a new stage of bilateral cooperation. The event also featured the opening ceremony of the “Level Standard” laboratory, which is designed for verifying level measuring instruments.

🧪 New Laboratory Capabilities

The laboratory for verifying level measuring instruments will compare and calibrate the following types of instruments:

  • coaxial
  • ultrasonic
  • float
  • microwave
  • radar
  • magnetostrictive

The level measuring instrument comparison device has a measurement range from 0 to 25 meters with an accuracy of ±0.3 mm. This comparison device provides the possibility of metrological assurance for high-accuracy level measuring instruments. The laboratory was established as part of the implementation of Presidential Decree No. PQ-91 dated February 28, 2024.

🎯 Main Tasks of the Laboratory

  • Ensuring the unity of measurements in Uzbekistan.
  • Expanding the national standards base.
  • Guaranteeing the metrological reliability of measuring instruments used in industrial sectors.

📊 Expected Results The establishment of this “Level Standard” laboratory is a significant step not only in providing metrological assurance for industrial and manufacturing sectors but will also serve to strengthen the knowledge and skills of specialists and enhance the potential of highly qualified personnel.

As a result of the laboratory’s launch, more than 4,000 level measuring instruments across the republic will receive metrological assurance.

Additionally, it will create an opportunity for participation in international comparisons, which will contribute to the international recognition of Uzbekistan’s measurement capabilities.

At the same time, the establishment of a practical training laboratory at the Tashkent State Technical University will strengthen personnel training and scientific potential.

🤝 A Path to International Cooperation This event marked the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation and became an important step in the development of quality infrastructure in the field of metrology.
