A Scientific-Practical Seminar Dedicated to World Metrology Day is Underway

At this moment, a scientific-practical seminar dedicated to World Metrology Day is taking place at the initiative of the Uzbek National Institute of Metrology under the Agency for Technical Regulation of Uzbekistan. The event is attended by the leadership of the Agency, representatives of national and international metrology organizations, scientists, and industry specialists.

In 2025, World Metrology Day is being held under the theme: “Measurements – at all times, for all people!” This year holds special significance — it marks the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Metre Convention. This historic document was signed in 1875 by representatives of 17 countries and laid the foundation for a unified measurement system worldwide. These days, we gratefully remember the dedicated work and contributions of all generations of metrologists.

During the seminar, reports are being presented on ensuring the uniformity of measurements in Uzbekistan, the development of the national standards base, initial steps in the field of quantum metrology, and issues related to personnel training.

The seminar was opened by the Director of the Agency for Technical Regulation of Uzbekistan, Akmal Zhumanazarov. Experts from the Agency, the Institute, and university representatives are giving presentations on the following topics:

“From User of Standards – to Their Creator”
“The First Step Towards Quantum Metrology in Uzbekistan”
“Creation of the Standard for the Unit of Plane Angle — Degree”
“The Role of Metrology in the Education System”, and others.

Additionally, as part of international cooperation, modern projects in the field of quantum metrology are being implemented, including the creation of a specialized center in this field.

As part of the seminar, in celebration of World Metrology Day, the most active and initiative-driven specialists are being awarded in the following categories:

Best Young Metrologist (Scientific Direction)
Best Young Metrologist (Practical Direction)
Best Manager of the Year for Implementing the Kaizen Method
Most Active Regional Branch of the Year
Best Partner Industrial Enterprise of the Institute

Winners are being awarded certificates and commemorative gifts.
