On May 29–30, 2025, the 37th Meeting of the COOMET Committee and the 28th Meeting of the Joint Committee on Standards (JCS) were held in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia, within the framework of the Euro-Asian Cooperation of National Metrological Institutions (COOMET).
Staff of the Uzbek National Institute of Metrology actively participated in these important international events, which brought together delegations from more than 15 countries.
The agenda included:
-
Reports on the activities of the COOMET President and Secretariat during the reporting period
-
Updates from international and regional metrological organizations such as BIPM, OIML, GULFMET, and MGS
-
Implementation of the CIPM MRA
-
Topics in legal metrology, education and information, quality management, digital transformation, and support for CEEMS (Countries and Economies with Emerging Metrology Systems)

Note: Since 2024, Uzbekistan has held the presidency of COOMET, and the Secretariat is now operating at the Uzbek National Institute of Metrology.
Notably, Martin Milton, Director of BIPM, and Jan Danmüller, Assistant Director of OIML, attended the meetings in person — a clear sign of COOMET’s growing prestige and significance on the international stage.
Several key decisions were adopted, including the approval of eight candidates from COOMET member countries for the honorary title “Distinguished Metrologist of COOMET” (for the 2024 nomination round).
The honorary title “Distinguished Metrologist of COOMET” recognizes individuals actively contributing to COOMET cooperation, acknowledging their professional excellence and personal contribution to the development of metrological collaboration.
It is a point of pride that Nuriddin Raimjonov, Chief Metrologist of the Uzbek National Institute of Metrology, was among the honorees.
Furthermore, the COOMET Committee officially approved the nomination of a representative from Uzbekistan as Chair of the Technical Committee “Education and Information” (TC 4).
The agenda also included preparations for hosting the 11th International COOMET Contest “Best Young Metrologist – COOMET 2025” in Tashkent.
