Center for Calibration and Measurement Services

The Center for Calibration and Measurement Services (hereinafter referred to as the Center) was established in July 2019 with the aim of introducing and improving calibration services in such areas of metrology as mass and related quantities and thermometry.

The center comprises a laboratory for measurements in the field of mass and small volume, a group of laboratories for measurements in the field of pressure and a group of laboratories for measurements in the field of thermometry and is part of the calibration laboratory of the Uzbek National Institute of Metrology.

Calibration is carried out in accordance with the recommendations, guidelines and instructions of reputable technical organizations.

Laboratories, to confirm their calibration and measurement capabilities, take part in pilot and supplementary comparisons of regional metrological organizations recognized under the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of National Measurement Standards and Calibration and Measurement Certificates issued by National Metrology Institutes (CIPM MRA) and with foreign metrology institutes.

 Mass and small volume laboratory

The laboratory ensures the transfer of the unit of quantity and ensures the metrological traceability of mass measuring instruments to the working and national standards.

The laboratory has a climate control system that ensures stable maintenance of temperature within 0.3 ºС for 1 h and 0.5 ºС for 12 h, as well as relative humidity within 5% for 4 h.

To determine the density of weights in order to ensure a more accurate transfer of the mass unit, the laboratory is equipped with a density comparator with a measurement interval of up to 2 kg.

A set of weights and mass comparators allow calibrating weights of 1 mg from to kg and weighing devices of non-automatic operation in the measurement range up to 20 kg. For the calibration of pipette dispensers up to 1 µl, electronic scales are available, which are equipped with a cover with a motion sensor and a large evaporative trap with a volume of 80 ml.

Absolute and gauge pressure laboratory

The laboratory ensures the transfer of the unit of magnitude and ensures the metrological traceability of pressure measuring instruments to the working and national standards.

With the use of piston pressure gauges and auxiliary equipment, it is possible to calibrate pressure gauges with digital and analog indication, as well as sensors and transducers in the field of measurements of absolute (up to 7 MPa), negative excess (up to minus 0.1 MPa) and positive excess (up to 500 MPa ) pressure.

It should be noted that piston pressure gauges have the ability to perform automated measurements, which leads to minimization of the influence of personnel on the measurement process.

Contact thermometry laboratory

The laboratory ensures the transfer of the unit of quantity and ensures the metrological traceability of temperature measuring instruments to the working and national standards.

The laboratory is equipped with ampoules, thermostats and ovens for realizing the temperature at such reference (fixed) points as triple points of mercury and water, melting point of gallium, solidification points of indium, tin, zinc and aluminum.

With the use of platinum reference resistance thermometers and auxiliary equipment, it is possible to calibrate resistance thermometers, thermoelectric converters (thermocouples), thermometers with digital and analog indication in the measurement range from minus 38.8344 °C (triple point of mercury) to plus 961.78 °C (silver solidification point).
